Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, His disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of our most important values  is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Stones River Baptist Church gives to missions work through the Cooperative Program, and by supporting the Annie Armstrong Easter offering (North American Missions), Golden State Missions offering (State Missions), and Lottie Moon offering (International Missions). Listed below are some of  our active ministries and we invite people of all ages to join us in our mission to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to show His love for others.

We meet the 1st Monday of each month at 6:30pm in room 305. Our meetings consist of Bible Study and a Mission Story, Prayer for missionaries, and doing or discussing upcoming mission projects.

Our Men’s group meets for breakfast on the third Saturday of each month. We fellowship and enjoy some good food before going through a study of God’s Word.

The study of missions and various missionaries is incorporated into our Youth Bible studies and activities! We meet for Bible study every Sunday evening at 7:00pm in the Youth room.

Mission Friends, ages 3 to 5 years, meet each Wednesday night at 6:30pm in room 102. We learn about missionaries all over the world. We have story time, prayer time, crafts, and snacks. It’s a wonderful opportunity to teach our children the importance of supporting our missionaries. Please come join us!

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry group meets every Tuesday at 10:00 AM, in room 201. If you feel a need to reach out to someone who needs a prayer and a hug – to the sick in the hospital, a caregiver, a homebound person, or a sick baby – please bring your yarn, knitting and crochet needles, and join our group! We make prayer shawls, prayer quilts, and baby blankets, praying for each recipient as we work. All ages are welcome! We will teach you, and you can do your work at home. We have already delivered 55 items – some of them out of the country. Please join us. It has certainly helped my prayer life, and I believe it will help yours, too!
Knitting in Love,

We conduct a year-round ministry with Operation Christmas Child. Each month we emphasize a certain item that goes in a shoebox (e.g., washcloth, soap, toy, etc.) and then as Christmas approaches we gather and pack hundreds of shoeboxes to be shipped around the world.

On the first Tuesday of every other month (Jan/Mar/May/July/Sept/Nov), we hold services at the Nashville Rescue mission, providing God’s Word and music for those residing at the mission. We also work to serve meals and give out Bibles. We donate toys, etc., to the fast growing number of women and children at the Women’s Shelter.

We visit the women’s prison on the 2nd Sunday of each month. We present a service and music for the women, and we donate personal hygiene products, writing materials, stamps, etc., to them. We are always open to donations toward purchasing these items. Please keep this ministry in your prayers. We really need help in every aspect of this project!

Azalea Court – Each Wednesday at 10:00 AM
Mayfield – Each Wednesday at 10:00 AM

We visit residents and have music for them, along with providing a devotion. We also have craft items for them!
